About Ten Acres Vineyard

This site offers you the opportunity to camp somewhere a bit different. The site is located in the heart ofl Devon, down a long track and well away from traffic. The loudest noise you'll usually hear is the sound of skylarks and swallows swooping and twittering overhead. The site has a fully furnished glamping tent next to the vines with beautiful views. Get the BBQ lit, pop a cork and put your feet up watching the sun go down around the campfire. There are nine additional spacious grass pitches for tents and small campervans. There is a hot shower and two well-maintained eco-friendly compost loos, as well as full recycling facilities. A freezer in one of the outbuildings is also provided for guests' use in addition to some electric sockets for charging up phones, blowing up airbeds etc. The site offers vineyard tours with wine-tasting every Saturday afternoon as well as private tours on other days. There is an onsite wine shop with a full range of sparkling and still wines, as well as homemade apple juice. A limited number of fire pits are for hire and logs and other fire lighting paraphernalia are for sale too. There is an Ooni pizza oven for guests to use in the campsite shelter, and pizza-making kits are also available. The village of Winkleigh is a mile's walk from the campsite. There are some great cafes, pubs and shops to try out during your stay. Dartmoor, the Tarka Trail cycle route and the North Devon coast are within easy reach of the campsite, all of which offer some great daytime activities.

Open from 1 May to 30 September

A note from the site themselves...

Since opening our gates in 2013, there have been many changes from when we couldn't open until much later in the summer of 2020, our family moved into one of our bell tents for a while, living outdoors - we loved it! We don't normally have the time in the best weather to appreciate the views, the space, the birdsong and the wonderful starry skies ourselves, so it was a real treat!

We built the eco facilities ourselves as well as the onsite shop and campsite shelter. We love a project! We can often be seen working in the vineyard, which we started planting in 2008, or feeding our hens or kune kune pigs, which are part of our set up here for the guests to enjoy as well as us.

Our small business is proud to be a member of the North Devon Biosphere community, which works hard to maintain spaces in which flora and fauna can thrive. We enjoy allowing some of our land to be occupied solely by wildlife, and we plant wildflowers and shrubs year on year to attract bees and butterflies.

We are dedicated to soil regeneration in the vineyard and are committed to producing minimal intervention wines, to allow the full character of the grape to come through in the flavour of our wines.

We have a lot of returning guests, who we love to welcome back. We have tried to create a peaceful friendly space without the crowds, so visitors can relax and unwind with family and friends. Guests seem to love joining our vineyard tours and learning about what we do here, as well as tasting our sparkling and still wines.

We look forward to keeping our campsite numbers low, which seems to create a very relaxed and friendly vibe. We aim to continue producing high quality wines for our guests (and us!) to enjoy.

During your stay, why not join a guided vineyard and winery tour? Ten Acres tours take place every Saturday at 4.30pm and last about an hour and a half.

Toby (the winemaker) can take you around the vineyard and into the winery to show guests what's involved in wine production on a small scale. After the tour, there is a guided wine tasting, where you can taste a minimum of three of the wines, always including sparkling wine - the site's speciality.

If you like walking, there are some wonderful local countryside walks in woodland and along riversides. For the more adventurous, both Dartmoor and Exmoor are within easy reach as is the beautiful North Devon coast, excellent for walking and surfing (as well as lazing with a good book!).

The fantastic Tarka Trail is a cycle path along the old rural railway line. It's a great way to explore the local area, cycling through countryside and along the coast. Bring your own bikes or hire some from family run competitively-priced cycle hire centres on the Tarka Trail itself.

The onsite shop has an array of leaflets for you to peruse and a big map on the wall with local places of interest marked.
