Sykeside Camping Park is the perfect spot for walking, whether you fancy a short stroll around Brotherswater or a full day's hike. The central location makes this site ideal for exploring the Lake District and Cumbria, whether it be on foot or by car. There's a tasty inn close by and you can enjoy the stunning views of Dove Crag.
In the heart of the Dovedale Valley, surrounded by Dove Crag, Hart Crag and Fairfield with Brotherswater nearby, Sykeside is an inspiring location for Lake District camping, offering stunning views. A favourite with families, walkers, climbers and ramblers, Sykeside is the number one choice for that ideal location in the heart of Lakeland. The site offers camping on grass with a stunning setting in nature, pitches set in various locations around the park. There are 21 electric hook-ups with hardstanding for camper vans, motorhomes, caravans and trailer tents. Campervans are welcome in this area, and there are 19 EHUs available for vans only. There is also a 5 van CL site exclusively for Caravan and Motorhome Club members with EHUs also available. The site also offers an array of luxury glamping options, from yurts that sleep up to 6, on comfortable beds with woodburning stoves, to lovely waterproof tipis that allow a cosy fire. Note that tipis are erected by staff before you arrive, so please pre-book. For families and large groups, the best option could be the bunkhouse, which offers heated accommodation on real beds in 9 different bunkrooms. Each room sleeps between 2 and 6 people and they also have access to basic cooking facilities, storage facilities, a private toilet and shared showers. Please note that due to the park's position in the bottom of the valley television reception is extremely unreliable, and there is no mobile phone reception at all. The site is dog-friendly, however, staff ask that dogs are kept on a lead and under control to protect local sheep. Groups of more than 6 adults are not permitted.

Dogs
The Management has discretion regarding the acceptance of dogs on the site, on the condition that the owner accepts full responsibility, keeps the dog on a lead at all times and walks the dog in the authorised area.
Dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pet and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
There are about 30 walks starting from Sykeside itself from a leisurely stroll round Brotherswater for all the family, to the more challenging walks that take you over some of the spectacular fells.
An outdoor company who specialize in tailor-made activity days and packages can be booked from the site. They are mobile so most of their activities can be done at any suitable venue in the Lakes. A popular option is to Hike up High Street, as many footpaths leave right from the site's doorstep.
The nearby areas you can visit are Patterdale, Glenridding, Windermere, Ambleside, Ullswater, Coniston and Keswick. That gives you the most popular spots in the Lake District to choose from. Aira Force (15 mins drive) is a hit with many visitors to the Lakes as it's an incredibly powerful waterfall in a vibrant setting.
Within an easy half hour drive, all the water attractions of the Lakes are open to you. Ospreys can be seen at Bassenthwaite near Keswick. Coniston Launches offer boat trips on Coniston Water and there are boat trips on Derwentwater from Keswick. Ullswater Steamers also offer boat trips all year round from Glenridding which is only a 10 minute drive away.
For brave campers, the park is open all year round (with the exception of Christmas Day) in all weathers, so why not join for a spot of ice-climbing or winter walking, or perhaps just relaxing by the fire in the attached pub!
