Directions From the A19 just south of Peterlee, take the B1281 turning signed to Blackhall, and drive through Castle Eden, turning left after about Â½ a mile signed towards Blackhall. After approx 3 miles turn right at T-junction onto A1086, towards Crimdon. After about 1 mile the park entrance is signposted on the left, beside the Seagull public house.

Longhirst Hall Morpeth Micklewood village is situated in the grounds of Longhirst Hall and is the ideal location for exploring the ancient kingdom of Northumbria. Longhirst caters for the needs of the explorer, the sports enthusiast and those opting for the quiet break. Only 40 miles from the Scottish border the area is full of history. The imposing castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick bare witness to the warring past. Further inland you will find ancient ruins, country houses and the scenic beauty of the National Park. A visit to the Farne Islands (Holy Island) with its medieval connections and fairy tale castle are a must. Fishing villages such as Beadnell, Seahouses and Alnmouth dot the coastline with many choices of hostelry, try a local delicacy from the several smokeries. The two on site golf courses are supported by a dozen or so along the coast behind the miles of golden sands, being some of the quietest beaches in Britain. There is much wildlife to see, and the boat trip to the Farne Islands to visit the basking seals is well worth the trip. Alternatively, historic Morpeth is only 3 miles away, with a choice of shops, pubs and restaurants, or the ancient town of Alnwick, taking a day or so to visit the famous gardens. Follow the A1058 towards the sea front at Tynemouth. Turn left at the sea-front and then follow the road until you see St. Mary's Lighthouse on the right. The Whitley Bay Holiday Park is opposite the lighthouse. From the North - take the A1 South. Just past Morpeth, take the road signposted to the Tyne Tunnel (A19). Take the slip road, which is sign-posted to Whitley Bay. Follow the signs for caravan park

The imposing castle, towering above the wide sandy beach, was first built in the 6th century, but last restored in 1894. Directions From A1 at Seaton Burn, go on to A19. At the roundabout, go on to A189 to Ashington, heading North. At the first oundabout on the A189, turn right on to the B1334 towards Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. The Sandy Bay Holiday Park is on the right.
